Living in Columbus
A Tour of Columbus Neighborhoods

New to Columbus and don’t know where to start? We’re here to help. The Central Ohio region has a diverse and lively selection of suburbs and neighborhoods speckled around Columbus, each with its own unique personality and perks. Check out a brief intro to a few of our favorite neighborhoods below!

Dublin. Dublin is an idyllic suburb to the northwest of Columbus proper. The city was founded hundreds of years ago but remained small until the 1970’s, when highway construction brought a boom to the area. Now the area is well-known for its great schools, gorgeous landscapes (thinking of you, Asherton of Dublin ), and love of all things green. The town has a massive Irish Festival every summer that you won’t want to miss, and Dublin’s own Muirfield Village Golf Course hosts the Memorial Tournament annually.

Hilliard. Just south of Dublin, you’ll find Hilliard, a similarly historic suburb with a recent growth spurt matching Columbus’s expansion. Established at the crux of an important railroad, Hilliard used to be called Hilliard’s Station and served as the perfect shipping point for agricultural supplies. Today Hilliard hosts a growing population and awesome schools. Old Hilliard is a walkable uptown area filled with cute shops and restaurants, all located just steps from the new mixed-use community of Landmark Lofts. Hilliard is embracing the expanding desire for suburbs to include walkable spaces.

Polaris. If shopping is a key part of your life, Polaris is the place for you. Centered around the Polaris Fashion Place mall, this area has developed almost exclusively in the last ten years. Trendy shops and delicious restaurants line the parkway, along with luxury apartments (The Pointe at Polaris offers urban-suburban living) and seemingly endless activities. You won’t want to miss out on this growing neighborhood.

Downtown. Through the years Downtown Columbus has transformed from the traditional city center of a state capital into a humming epicenter for art and culture. Here you can find the offices of national businesses as well as local gems and creative events that bring together different communities. At the center of it all is the Columbus Commons, a six-acre green space that features a state-of-the-art outdoor stage and recreation areas. If you want to get in on the over 200 events the Commons hosts annually, we recommend living right in the center of the action, at Highpoint on Columbus Commons.

Franklinton. To the west of downtown is the historic neighborhood of Franklinton, a town that has been making more and more of a name for itself in recent years. The area has become a hub for artists and makers, who have covered the brick walls of old buildings with gorgeous murals and hosted monthly street fairs called Franklinton Fridays. The area has become a mix of old and new, with new builds like River & Rich featuring both retail and gorgeous living options.
