Ten Things We Love About Dublin

Dublin, Ohio is a suburban town located a short drive northwest of the state capital Columbus. Covering more than 24 square miles, the town is home to 47,000+ residents and continues to grow, so we compiled a few of our favorite things about Dublin to help you explore it!

1. Historic Dublin. Historic Dublin is a walkable and lively section of town that features restaurants, cafes, shopping, businesses, and more. The historic buildings make for the perfect Instagram-able moment while exploring! For a memorable dinner, check out Mezzo or Tucci’s, then grab a sweet treat at La Chatelaine or Winans Fine Chocolates & Coffees.

2. The Memorial Tournament. Green is Dublin’s color, especially when it comes to their golf courses. Dublin annually hosts the Memorial Tournament, a part of the PGA Tour, at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. The Tournament was founded by Columbus native Jack Nicklaus and serves to increase interest in the golf community and give back to the Greater Columbus area.

3. Unbeatable Schools. A top reason for new residents moving to Dublin is the school district: Dublin City Schools. The school district is one of the ten largest school districts in the state, and the high schools continually rank as some of the best in the country. More than 16,000 students attend school in the district, spread out among 12 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and 3 high schools.

4. Dublin Irish Festival. Every year Dublin celebrates its namesake by throwing a big celebration of authentic Irish culture on the first weekend of August. The festival touts the common Dublin saying that “Irish is an attitude.”

5. Holiday Hangouts. Dublin goes big for holiday celebrations. St. Patrick’s Day is a citywide favorite, with the city putting on the Greenest Grandest St. Patrick’s Day Parade through the town. For the Fourth of July, the city throws a stadium style concert at Dublin Coffman High School followed by an impressive fireworks show.

6. Beautiful Parks. The town features 1,100 acres of developed parkland with 60 parks for visitors to enjoy and 130 miles of biking and recreation trails. There are also outdoor and indoor pools, a recreation center, and a community theater operated by the parks department.

7. Rich History. Dublin is situated in an area that has a rich history, and the city strives to preserve that past. For example, thousands of years ago the Hopewell people lived in the Ohio area, and evidence of their time here can still be seen in Dublin—visitors can see three historic earthworks and five burial mounds at Ferris-Wright Park.

8. Bridge Street District. The Bridge Street District is currently undergoing extensive development to establish it as one of the premier mixed-use districts in Ohio. The area spans both sides of the Scioto River, connected with a pedestrian bridge and dotted with beautiful green spaces and exceptional architecture.

10. Arts Council. The Dublin Arts Council “engages the community, cultivates creativity and fosters life-long learning through the arts” by supporting the arts as a pillar of the community. To see some of the best art the town has to offer, you can visit the Dublin Arts Center or check out a local favorite, the “Field of Corn” exhibit which features 109 six-foot-tall corn statues located in a field.
