At Oakwood, we believe in the power of community and the joy of helping others. Recently, we had the honor of transforming 5-year-old Henry’s backyard into his dream playset paradise. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2023, Henry’s wish was to have a space where he could simply be a kid again.
With the help of A Special Wish Foundation, Yardmaster, and Lowes, that wish came to life. Yardmaster donated their time and expertise to design a playful, safe backyard, while Lowes generously provided the materials. Together, we created a space full of swings, slides, climbing structures, and cozy family spots—everything Henry dreamed of and more.
The backyard reveal was truly magical. Henry, joined by his sister and friends, celebrated the new playset with a party filled with laughter and play.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. Henry’s story has touched us deeply and will continue to inspire our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Be sure to watch the full transformation and see the joy of Henry’s backyard wish come to life.

We have some PAWesome news that we are excited to share with you!
At Oakwood, we believe in the power of pets to bring joy, companionship, and love into our lives. That’s why we’re offering a fantastic opportunity for our residents this June.
Waived Pet Fees for Adopted Pets
For June, if you adopt a pet from any shelter, we will waive the one-time pet fee! This means you can welcome a new furry friend into your home without any initial cost. Adopting a pet not only gives an animal a loving home but also fills your life with unconditional love and happiness.
How to Take Advantage of This Offer
1. Visit a Shelter: Head to any local shelter and find your perfect companion.
2. Adopt Your Pet: Complete the adoption process and receive your adoption papers.
3. Submit Your Papers: Bring your adoption papers to our leasing staff.
4. Enjoy Your Waived Pet Fee: Once we verify the adoption, the one-time pet fee will be waived.
Our Partnership with Franklin County Dog Shelter
In addition to waiving pet fees, we are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Franklin County Dog Shelter. For every dog adopted from their shelter in June, we will donate 3 pounds of dog food. This partnership aims to support the shelter's mission of caring for dogs in need and finding them forever homes.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to giving back and making a positive impact in our community. Together, we can help find loving homes for these wonderful dogs and ensure they have the resources they need." Jordan Gnoose, Oakwood CARES Coordinator.
Important Reminders
Over 60 Oakwood communities welcome pets. Please remember that all pets must still meet our community’s pet requirements, including weight and breed restrictions. Be sure to review our pet guidelines to ensure your new furry friend complies with our policies. If you have any questions about these guidelines, feel free to contact our office.
We look forward to seeing many new furry faces around Oakwood! If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
Let's make this June a month of love, wagging tails, and happy homes!

Starting in October, 55 of our communities participated in this year’s Columbus Apartment Association Food Drive, which directly benefits the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Our communities were able to get creative by using social media and on-site marketing to engage residents to donate. As a whole, Oakwood residents came together to donate over 13,500 items to help families in need, which was the largest donation the food bank has ever received from one corporation! This equates to around 11,300 pounds of food, which will be able to provide 9,400 meals this holiday season!
The Mid-Ohio Food Collective is the largest food bank in Ohio, providing over 170,000 meals each day for hungry people in Central and Eastern Ohio. They serve a total of 20 counties and cover nearly 10,000 square miles of people. These people are, on average, missing 52 days of eating each year. Their goal is to eventually close the 144 million-meal gap in the Central and Eastern Ohio region. To learn more about the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, click here.
In addition, a very special shoutout goes to Oakwood’s Asherton of Dublin community and their residents for donating a total of 3,377 items alone. This was the largest donation from a single community across the communities participating in this year’s CAA Food Drive.
We are so appreciative of our amazing residents around our Oakwood Communities for their generous and giving spirits, our site teams for coordinating and collecting these donations, and our regional facilitators for coordinating the pickup and delivery of the donations. We couldn't have done this without you!
