Our President & CEO, Keith Jones, was welcomed at the home of Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine for a conversation with Move to PROSPER families. As secretary for the program’s board of directors, Keith expresses, “Parents in the Move to PROSPER program are empowered to advance their financial capability while the children advance academically. We are honored to welcome these families as Oakwood residents.” The partnership enables participating families to choose from Cabot Cove Apartments, Rosebrook Village, and Copperleaf.
The Governor and the First Lady listened as the women shared how the program enabled them to improve the lives of their families by attaining better housing in higher resourced neighborhoods, jobs, and schooling. One mom discussed that her career coach inspired her to go after a better-paying job. As an hourly employee, she had to take time off to interview for positions. Her budget was so tight that losing that income forced her to make decisions about whether to buy food or pay the rent. Since then, she has been promoted three times!
Another mom told about how her coach helped to build her self-confidence and encouraged her to leave the comfort zone of her current career, even though it didn’t pay well, and to begin really thinking about how to fulfill her dreams.
Caring for our community, where we live and work, is what makes Oakwood the best of the best. Our partnership with Move to PROSPER gives participants the tools needed to improve the lives of their families.
